about me

I’m a British literary translator and writer, based in Berlin. In addition to fiction, my areas of expertise are the arts and journalism.

In my twenties, I explored photography, and had work published in The Guardian, Berliner Zeitung and indie fashion mags. Having always loved languages, I soon began translating monographs of artists (e.g. for the Steidel Museum, Pina Bausch Foundation and Theater der Zeit.) Then in 2008, after completing an MA, I set up Transfiction with Karen Witthuhn and switched to full-time translation. My passion for film-making and analogue photography remains strong.

I’m drawn to cross-genre and experimental literature, voice-led fiction and journalistic non-fiction. For this reason, I’m excited that Ronald M. Schernikau’s Smalltownnovella will be published in my English translation in autumn 2025 by Ugly Duckling Press.
